Sloop John D

Description

One of my personal favourite ships is the John D. Leitch; a self-discharging bulk carrier registered in Canada. Built in 1967, it primarily transports raw materials. The vessel belongs to the Algoma Central Corporation fleet and is essential to the Great Lakes shipping industry.
Captured here on West Street in Port Colborne, in the Welland Canal, as she leaves for Lake Erie. Of course, I couldn’t resist the Beach Boys reference!
