Description

It was a fortunate revelation; had I not taken the opportunity to capture the courthouse’s essence from the rooftop of a business on St. Paul Street, I would have never realized that the St. Catharines Courthouse dates all the way back to 1849! While meticulously editing the images, the year “1849,” etched on the weather vane, caught my eye, thus inspiring the title. The St. Catharines Courthouse, formerly referred to as the Lincoln County Courthouse, is a magnificent example of Georgian architecture, built between 1848 and 1849. Initially serving as a town hall, market, and police station, this historic landmark continues to exude timeless charm.
