Description

Pardon the pun. This large lake vessel is named after Louis de Buade, Comte de Frontenac et de Palluau (22 May 1622 – 28 November 1698). A distinguished French soldier and courtier, he served as the Governor General of New France in North America from 1672 to 1682, and again from 1689 until his death in 1698. Frontenac was crucial in establishing several forts around the Great Lakes and took part in many battles against the English and the Haudenosaunee.
