Description

Pictured here, moored on West Street (Port Colborne, ON), is the Edward M. Cotter, an historic fireboat operated by the Buffalo Fire Department in Buffalo, New York. Launched in 1900 as the William S. Grattan, it was renamed in 1954 to honour Edward M. Cotter, a respected firefighter and union leader. The Cotter boasts remarkable firefighting capabilities, with an impressive pumping capacity of 15,000 gallons per minute. Additionally, it functions as an icebreaker throughout the winter months, enhancing its versatility and effectiveness.
